About Twain

Nestled in an established neighborhood rich in tradition stands Mark Twain Elementary School, a 1997, 2002 and 2006 California Distinguished School, and a 1999 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Winner. Built in the mid-1930's to resemble a California mission complete with a working bell tower, Twain is truly a school which instills a genuine sense of pride and commitment shared by staff, parents, students, and community, many of whom are second and third generation.

Inside the quaint exterior of the school, learning reflects a balance of basic skills and in-depth instruction. Articulated thematic units at each grade level foster the school-wide focus of developing responsible learners, respectful contributors, and reflective thinkers. Through the integration of subjects across the curriculum, our students experience a rich learning environment with high expectations for all.
