Message From Dr. Booker
Dear Twain Families,
Welcome to our 2021/2022 School year. I hope this letter finds you in good health and a strong spirit. Wow, what a year it has been! As we prepare for the return to in-person learning, I am committed to updating you with the latest health and safety protocols. In the meantime, for the most current information regarding the opening of school please continue to look for email communication from LBUSD.
As you may have noticed, Twain has gone through some drastic changes since June. The Measure E renovations are in full swing. Unfortunately, with renovations, comes changes. To start, all of our students will be on the eastside of the campus along with our main office which will be located in room #305. To enter the office, please use the gate located on the corner of Centralia and Clark.
We have several new staff members that are joining our Twain family. Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Garate, Mr. Venegas, Ms.Wunno, and Mrs. Reed.
Mrs. Garate has been teaching for 15 years in LBUSD. She’s taught 1st and 4th grade at Webster Elementary. For the last 7 years, she has taught kindergarten at Addams Elementary. She loves teaching the little ones and is very excited to join the Twain team!
Mr. Venegas will be teaching 5th grade this year. He is a product of the LBUSD system. He previously taught at Lifeline Elementary Charter School in Compton and at the Accelerated Charter Elementary School (ACES) in South Los Angeles. He will be entering his 9th year as an educator and is thrilled to be back home at LBUSD.
Ms. Wunno will be our new RSP teacher. She has recently completed her credential program at CSULB with a dual credential in special education for mild/mod and mod/severe. She completed her students teaching at Tincher and Cleveland. She is excited to join the LBUSD family and is looking forward to meeting everyone at Twain Elementary.
Mrs. Reed has been an LBUSD teacher for 8 years and a Torrance USD teacher for 9 years. She has taught grades K, 2, 3, and 4. For the past five years, she has been an EL TOSA and has worked at Smith and Edison Elementary. She looks forward to joining the Twain team!
I am so excited to see our students back on campus, and look forward to the opportunity to interact with you in the coming days.
Keep up with our amazing PTA and all of the events, programs and enrichment opportunities provided by our advocates.
