WELCOME TO TWAIN!

Jacqueline Williams 02 - 2.jpg

Greetings Twain Families & Community Members,

As we begin the new school year, I'm excited to reconnect with our returning students and to meet the newest members of the Twain community joining us this year. As teachers, staff, parents and community partners, our collaboration is essential to the success of these young scholars who will do great things both while they are here at Twain and far beyond. I know their growth and long term success is the highest priority for us all, so I'm excited to share with you a bit of what our teachers and I have been working on this summer.

Reminders for the first day of school

Twain Parents and Friends,

As we continue to prepare our campus for our students' return on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, we are asking that parents read and follow these friendly reminders
to ensure that our first day of school is stress free:

  • Arrive at 7:40 am. As you know, the first day of school can be chaotic and traffic can be a nightmare. To prevent this from happening and to reduce your stress level, please arrive at 7:40 am. Arriving at 7:40 am will allow you time to find a parking space and to help your child find his/her classroom. Since there is no supervision on campus prior to   7:40 am, please do not compromise student safety by dropping students off earlier than 7:40 am.
  • Bus Zones (Clark Avenue). The bus zones on Clark Avenue are reserved for school buses only. Please do not use this area as a drop off zone.
  • Parking Lot. The parking lot is reserved for teachers only. Please do not use this area to drop off students for school. Dropping students off in this area can cause a major accident and is a significant safety risk. Teachers also have assigned parking spaces in the parking lot, and when parents park in these spaces teachers can be late picking up their students from the blacktop. Please arrive early and find parking on Centralia, Clark, or Sunfield.
  • ParentVue. Room Assignments were mailed last Thursday. If your child did not receive a class placement card, please check ParentVue for your child's room assignment.  If you have not signed in to ParentVue, please come into the office with your ID so we can provide you with the access code to access ParentVue.
  • Valet. The valet service will not be in use for the first few weeks of school. Since the Valet requires the work of screened parent volunteers via the VIPs process, we need this time to seek parent and student participation to get this program up and running.  For this reason, parents please be mindful to arrive early and adhere to traffic safety rules when driving near schools. If you would like to sign up as a parent volunteer for the valet service, please see our School Counselor, Mrs. Mary Carlson.
  • Uniforms. All students must be in a Twain uniform.

Our goal is to ensure that all Twain students are exposed to a safe and enjoyable learning environment.  Thank you for following these friendly reminders, and we look forward to meeting and welcoming our Twain families back to school on September 2, 2015.  Continue to enjoy your last few days of summer :-)

Keeping the arts alive!

"Let Your Imagination Fly" is the 2015-2016 PTA Reflections theme.  Summer is a great time to work on your project.  3D visual art is a new category this year, see the links at the right for submission guidelines and participation forms.  Fall workshops will be provided as well. Project deadline is October 23rd.  Contact Jennifer Hersch at jenhersch@gmail.com for questions.

after school supervision 2015-2016

Thank you to all of the parents who assisted us with funding the after school supervision program for the 2014-2015 school year.  Because of your help we were able to keep this program up and running last year.

Currently, we have secured enough funds to keep the program up and running for the Fall Semester (September 2015 - December 2015) only.  If you would like to have this service available for the Spring Semester (January 2016 - June 2016), please think about making a monetary donation so that this service could be available for the entire school year.  Any excess funds will be rolled over for the following semester.  If we are unable to secure the necessary funding, all Spring 2016 donations will be returned to the parents who donated money.

Please feel free to stop by our school's office to complete the necessary paperwork to make a donation.  We will continue to keep you updated regarding this service.
