Message from Dr. Williams

Twain Parents,

It's hard to believe that the 2014-2015 school year has come to an end and the 2015-2016 school year is already here. It seems like just yesterday, students and families were welcomed back to school and enjoying all of the activities sponsored by our amazing and supportive P.T.A. and our Dads of Great Students (D.O.G.S).

As I continue to reflect upon this past school year, I am humbled, grateful, and thankful for our awesome staff, parents, students, business partners, V.I.P.S., D.O.G.S., and of course, our awesome P.T.A. While our teachers were planning effective lessons and instructing students in accordance with the California Common Core Standards, our P.T.A. and D.O.G.S spent countless hours volunteering to fundraise and plan fun-filled activities for our Twain students and staff; our VIPS also spent numerous hours in classrooms assisting teachers with various classroom tasks. Without a doubt, Twain's staff and students are truly appreciative of these organizations' time and commitment to our students' learning and achievement.

It truly takes a village to encourage all students to learn, thrive, and achieve. This is evident by the hard work and commitment that our community puts forth each day to assist our students in educating the whole child.

Dr. Williams, Principal

before you start school shopping

As you get ready to go shopping for the new school year, please take a moment to brush up on Twain’s uniform policy and dress code. You can find the details here, but please keep in mind that – with the exception of shirts and outerwear displaying our school name and/or mascot that are purchased here at Twain – all shirts must be solid red or white with no cartoons or drawings of any kind. All pants or skirts must be dark navy blue and in good condition (no tears, etc.). Footwear must cover the entire foot, no open-toed or open-heeled styles or high heels are allowed. By adhering to this dress code, we are creating a safe environment where our children can focus on becoming Twain scholars. Reviewing these requirements will potentially save you the money and hassle of purchasing school clothes that your child will be unable to wear. Thank you for your cooperation!

Parent Vue and class placements

PXP_iTunesLink_ParentVUE.gif
ParentVue is a website that allows parents to view their children's current and historical information including registration, attendance, grades, test scores, discipline and more. If you haven't had a chance to activate your ParentVue account, you'll need to do so because postcards indicating students' class placements for 2016-2017 will not be mailed home but will instead be available on ParentVue after August 26.

Parents will need to come to the Twain office to obtain their ParentVue access code, and must be prepared to show an ID to obtain this code. Codes will not be given via telephone, and anyone obtaining the code must be on the child's school records.  The office will reopen on August 22 and office hours are 7:30am to 4:00pm.

Special note for 5th grade parents: School of Choice for Middle School will be done online via ParentVue, so please activate your account now!
